Have you ever wondered what it would be like to exist in a world filled with darkness? To live in a world where nothing good can come from you being there- because danger lurks down every dark alley? Enter into Matt Reeves’ new flick The Batman and that’s exactly what you’ll find- a world dominated by grimness and corruption that pervades through every corner of Gotham City. In a world like this, the only question you may ask yourself is, is there any salvation for you? Matt Reeves thinks so.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman is a neo noir thrill ride that takes on a refreshingly new look at the Batman universe. From the first scene in which we hear “Ave Maria”, by Schubert playing to the scene in which we find out that a serial killer style murder has been committed, the film begins to separate itself from previous Batman flicks in it’s grimness, in the heinous crimes that are perpetrated. The film reads like a thriller/horror film, which was clearly Reeves’ intention when he made the film, which is another thing that separates this version from previous Batman movies (Christopher Nolan’s and Tim Burton’s to name a couple). But different doesn’t mean worse. On the contrary, Reeves delivers a film that is reminiscent of the very comics that inspired the entire Batman series in the first place. Good for you Reeves.
