What the Lord Taught Me About Himself: A Meditation of Psalm 19

He is therefore the driver of my life and I am a mere passenger.

Human beings need to be taught everything. From the time we are children up until old age, it’s been said that human beings never stop learning. Learning then is a process, not a one time event, but rather a gradual process that can be fast or slow depending on the individual. Such is our walk or journey with Jesus. Because we have a relationship with Him, He knows how to show us the way, at what speed to go, what to teach us, and when it’s the appropriate moment to take us to the next level of spiritual growth.

The Lord taught me who He is and how limited we are compared to Him on a hike that I had taken a couple of years ago in the fall of 2018. I have been a lover of nature from a young age and I had started hiking with a co-worker and her family and my boyfriend in my adulthood. For this hike I was to venture into Alpine, NJ for the first time with my co-worker Joanna to arrive at Palisades Interstate Park.

The car ride took about 45 minutes. Along the way, we ran into some traffic but we made it there as planned on that sunny but windy fall afternoon. When we reached the parking lot, I exited Joanna’s car excited for the adventure. We had to wait for another girl who was…
